Traveler - Vivian Wong

I have planned to do a luggage for my Assignment 3, 3D cube. I have chosen to do my 3D cube into luggage is because i love to travel a lot.

Materials
Materials that i have used is :-
- Craft board
- Cyanoacrylate Adhesive = Glue
- Stickers
- Cloths
- Thread
- Wire

Front view
The front view of my cube is made out of images that represent myself. The images are popping out. I've got the idea of getting the images are from my mind map.

Inside of the cube
Inside my cube i would like to put cloths into it. It is just like my mini wardrobe.

Top view
Top view of the cube i want to show is the handle of the luggage and the lock of the luggage. Basically i wanted to find a lock from shops but due to the Hari Raya period all shops are closed. So i have chosen to used the craft board that i left to make the lock and handle.

Back view
Back view of my cube is just a simple images that is representing the next destination that i wanted to visit that is Paris. The other reason why the back view of my cube are simple is because the front side of the cube are enough much images. Other than that, i have made a luggage tag for my cube.

Estelle's 3D cube - Pink Zebra Camera

We were briefed assigned to do the 3D cube assignment since few weeks ago. This 3D cube assignment is all about expressing ourselves, our character, and our interest through the 3D cube. My primary idea of it was to do a butterfly shaped photo album but then i figured that it was too cheesy and so i changed my plan and i finally decided to do a Camera using the most traditional papercraft way. I have been doing some research on papercraft arts lately and i find it interesting so i decided to use this method to construct my 3D cube.

I looked up online for some samples and i found a couple of nice paper crafted cameras and so i decided to follow the cameras as reference and create one myself from scratch. I figured out the whole net myself by just studying the shape of the paper crafted camera references. after figuring it out, i illustrated the whole net out. before I proceeded with printing.

The final artwork was quite satisfying because it really does portray myself. The colors are very vibrant and it is mostly in pink, which is my favorite color.

Our group started to brainstorming about the direction of our storybook. Our storybook title is "The Great Tale of Construction of Pyramid". At first we planned our target audience at the age range between 4 to 6 years old. For our book layout it would be B5 size. Color that we are using for the storybook would be more to the earth tone because most of our scene are from the desserts and happened at Egypt. We also planned to do some 3D pop-up for the children to be more understanding.

Character :-
  • Horus (main character)
  • The King/ Pharoah
  • Isis (Horus wife)

Story line :-
  • Happened long long time ago, a guy who lived at a village called Khufu, Egypt who lived happy ever after with his wife and 2 children.
  • Until one day the King of Egypt felt sick and planned to built a tomb for himself for his afterlife.
  • They need a mass of slaves to built the tomb, and Horus get caught to built the pyramid.
  • Everyday Horus have to work at least 10 hours a day and lifting tonnes of rocks.
  • Although is exhausted, Horus still work hard to built the pyramid as a convey royalty to their King.
  • After 20 years the pyramid finally finished construction.
  • -Horus a back to his family and live ever after.

Material :-
  • Straw board for the cover
  • Mounting board for the pages of storybook
  • Art card (we printed our visuals on it and mount onto mounting board)
Moral Value :-
  • Royal to their King
  • Hardworking and Unity

Lately, we have done some changes on the target audience after having consultation from tutor.
We changed our target audience from 4-6 years to be more specific that is 7 years old.
In our story line we also used some words that will be more harder than the 4-6 years old children.
Due to the time management, our group decide to cancelled to 3D effects.
But in our storybook cover, we done some pop-up effects to make the storybook more interesting.

The final artwork is made quite last minute due to come complications. We did it within few hours. We did not have time to figure out the ways to attach the whole book together in such a short time. Despite all of that, we find our final output quite satisfying. We are happy with it and glad that we manage to complete it.

Bi-Weekly Report #1 (Week 1&2)

It was the first time we attend the tutorial class for this subject (Creative thinking) this semester. After we introducing ourselves and getting known with each others, we tend to get into a group of four at first (Chye Boon, Vivian, Estelle and another girl) for the coming assignments. Dino joined in the group later on so our group had 5 members. At the moment...
